Banana Bread

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. baking soda
3/4 t. salt
2 c. flour
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. mashed ripe bananas
1 c. crushed nuts (if desired)

Mix all in a big bowl. Bake in greased loaf pans for 30-45 minutes (keep checking at 30 minutes) @ 350 degrees. Freezes well.
